Sleek, elegant, classic, and minimalistic are all words I would use to describe the quintessential French style and as an American living in London, I am always looking for inspiration to mold and develop my personal eclectic style. Playing on the minimalism of french fashion, I chose a classic black and white color scheme. I added a punch of English style by layering a funky shag cardigan (unfortunately under my coat for most of this chilly day) from Asos, and of course acknowledging my Southern California roots by keeping the whole look edgy yet polished by mixing the striped and polka dot prints of my Forever 21 pieces.
The day was spent viewing Paris from a unique perspective. Rather than taking to the streets, we abandoned the traffic of taxis, buses, and cars to see the city from the River Seine. Like fashion, it is important to view style from new contexts. By examining French fashion from an American point of view and adding an English flair, I created a personal statement look that is unique to me and relevant of my surroundings.
While on the river the thick light grey clouds had masked the top of the Eiffel Tower making the city look bone chillingly cold, yet the warmth radiating off the rich French architecture and romantic aesthetic that filled the air created a mood of complexity, beauty, and excitement unlike any other city I had visited (not to mention the lighting is prime for picitures). Our week in Paris was a dream trip which exposed hidden Parisian gems and memories to treasure (excluding all sights and smells of the Metro). More Parisian looks and adventures to come!
Au Reviour – At least for now!!
