It’s officially springtime and that means the sun sometimes rears it shiny little head here in London, so a stroll to the Kensington Gardens seemed in order. What did not seem in order was the lack of sunshine and even worse, lack of flowers. I mean, there were some flowers, but I was expecting a magical place where the flowers were so exuberant that I could just frolic in them. To my dismay, they were few and far in between. But it was still a gorgeous, gloomy day and London, so I can’t complain too much. More importantly, I was dressed as if I were a walking, Topshop ad for spring wearing a blouse, skirt and shoes all courtesy of the brand. Although it didn’t feel quite like spring, I was dressed and ready for it. A full, white quilted midi paired with a bejeweled, cropped tank had me dreaming of the sunshine. When I put on the tank, I imagined the suns reflecting off the gems and creating small little beams of light to brighten up this already fab city. My chunky heel sandals with the mismatched prints are perfect and I kept the socks on my feet to keep me warm. If there’s one thing I will take home from London it will be there ever unpopular socks with sandals (or with any shoes you wouldn’t typically pair them with). I’m not sure if it’s the awkwardness I’m draw to or if there is something understatedly glam about it. Either way, I am all about it. With less than a month in London ( :((((( ), I am prepared to take in all the weather (good and bad) and every other opportunity that comes along before I head back to sunny California.

Immediately following a rain shower, when the sun bursts out and sparkles on puddles through clean, fresh air, colours brighter and senses somehow keener, those moments are profoundly exhilarating. Perhaps it is not the sunshine that matters so much as the pleasure we get when our weather changes.
